The Town of Woodstock invites applications for the position of Utility Electrician & Maintenance Specialist within the Town’s Department of Public Works.

The Town of Woodstock is seeking an experienced individual to join the Town’s Public Works Department as a Utility Electrician & Maintenance Specialist. The Utility Electrician & Maintenance Specialist performs difficult technical work monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical/technical controls and instrumentation systems for the wastewater treatment plant. Performs intermediate semiskilled work assisting with preventive equipment maintenance in the wastewater treatment plant, groundskeeping, and custodial duties and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Wastewater Plant Chief Operator.

General knowledge of operations of wastewater plants and dewatering facilities; general knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment and facilities; basic knowledge of the principals and practices of water/wastewater treatment. Thorough knowledge of the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and electronic instruments and controls utilized in utility plant equipment, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Thorough knowledge of advanced electrical and electronics theory and the operation of electric/electronic equipment. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions related to the electrical trade. Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and specifications. Ability to understand and carry out difficult oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

High school diploma or GED with extensive coursework/experience in electrical work and extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical/mechanical systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The selected candidate shall hold a Master Electrician License. The selected candidate will be required to obtain a Virginia Class B Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment.

The position is at-will, full-time and is classified as a FLSA non-exempt position. The pay range is $16.17/hour - $25.06/hour, annualized to $33,634 - $52,132, and is commensurate with experience and/or qualifications. The Town offers an excellent benefits package in addition to on-the-job training. The successful applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment, post-offer drug screening and background check.
