The Town of Woodstock Tree Board
OUR PURPOSE:
To develop, implement and maintain an urban forestry management program;
To develop standards and guidelines for planting, maintenance and preservation of public trees;
To promote education of the general public on proper tree-care practices;
To support efforts of other groups interested in urban forestry in the Town of Woodstock;
To advise the Town Manager, Town Council, and appropriate Boards and Commissions on matters pertaining to municipal plantings, and the designation of historic or landmark trees.

2010 Potential Tree Board Activities
Continue to work on Indian Springs Wetlands Park:
Work with JMU students and local schools on developing site guide (to be maintained on website and printed out as needed)
Work with Shenandoah Memorial Hospital on possible linkages with wellness program activities
Hold site work sessions to manage vegetation
Sponsor 2010 Arbor Day
Work with Virginia Department of Forestry on potential tree canopy study
Explore feasibility of starting a "Making the Shade" program (based on the Georgia program) with local school
Consider developing nature-related information for the trail at Riverview Park
Offer advice on tree planting at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (upon construction completion)
Research information about potential original boundary trees' sites establishing the boundaries for the Town of Woodstock
Schedule Tree Board visits to the Arboretum, Riverview Park Trail, Wastewater Treatment Plant, boundary sites
